‘The principles or practice of a grammarian’ (Oxford English Dictionary; s.v. grammarian).
This is a blog about English grammar written by Bas Aarts, a grammar enthusiast and Professor of English Linguistics at UCL. It is linked to the Englicious website for teachers of English. The main aim of the blog is to discuss points of grammar that may be of interest to teachers of English, especially in primary and secondary schools in the UK where the National Curriculum is taught. Feel free to comment on my posts.

Is there someone like you in Spanish? I love teaching grammar and nobody seems to want to learn anymore, they show movies in class to teach a Second Language..!! Yes, What?? And they are proud of it too. 😦

Hi, have you or Prof Sutherland seen this blogpost http://vivitelaeti.blogspot.sg/2016/03/how-can-prof-john-sutherland-be-so-wrong.html ? But to be fair to the writer, there does seem to be a great deal of meat in what he says. If Fowler didn’t say what Sutherland says he did, surely it’s terribly wrong of Sutherland?
